Floor hockey or street hockey is a close cousin to ice hockey and a favorite among ELA students. Floor hockey has been described as more universal game since it can be played virtually anywhere there is a flat surface. Student will learn the following skills while taking the floor hockey unit:
- General Rules and History
- Forehand and Backhand Pass
- Wrist and Snap Shot
- General Goal Tending
- Basic Hockey Strategy
However fun floor hockey can be it is also the most dangerous activity done through ELA PE. Special emphasis is done on safety and rule enforcement. Students are asked to make a special effort to avoid the following actions:
- Checking
- High Sticking
- Slashing
- Tripping
- Sending the Puck/Ball Above the Shoulders
